Has it been that long??

I just realized that it has been 4 years (or maybe more) since my last vacation. I think it's getting to me. I've been working weekends alot lately too. Could this be the mysterious source of my lack of desire to get any work done??? I need a getaway and this weekend may just be what the doctor ordered. We're taking a trip to celebrate David's 30th B-Day. A 3-day weekend is hardly a vacation, but it's much better than the current routine. I think I'm completely burnt out, but seem to drag myself in here everyday hoping to get work done. The great thing is that I don't have someone standing over my shoulder asking where the TPS reports are...and I've gotten the memo about new cover sheet (Thanks Chad for that post...that was a great movie). I just need to keep my clients happy and their projects moving forward.

Let's hope this weekend allows me to re-charge and come back with a new found desire to get things done. If not...guess I'll need to take another vacation.

Never-ending Story

This project that we have been working on for the last 2 years has become quite the study in patience. We're doing our internal beta testing and seem to keep finding small things that need to be fixed before we feel comfortable enough to launch.

We are learning quite a bit through the process though. I'm not sure if people realize what it takes to put together a project this complex...I know I certainly didn't. I've come to appreciate just how much work this has been and the amount of work it will take to make it successful.

The crazy part is all the people we've been telling about the project for the last 2 years. They all want to use the site and they keep asking us when it will be ready. The one thing that I am afraid that they won't understand is that just because we launch the site we won't have the traffic of our major competitors for a while. That's where they and even you who are reading this now come in. Our goal is that our site has value to buyers and sellers and that they help get the word out about what we've put out there.

So, we'll keep everyone posted on the progress these next few weeks. It's getting close.

No delivery yet

Still working out the bugs...so no real delivery of gorage.com yet. This weekend holds a promise of more walk-throughs and bug catching. I never thought I'd grow up to be a bug catcher. Who knew?

It's like giving birth....

A wise person once told me building a start up business is like the process of having a child. The whole time you are building the business you worry like a new parent and actually launching the business is like giving birth. Well, today might be the birthday of a new business. We're ready for delivery, but is our little baby? We certainly hope so! If not, it's time for a C-section. Now all of us men can empathize with our wives (even though my wife & I have not had kids yet)....GET THIS THING OUT OF ME!!! It's just been such a long process. We'll see what the doctors say today.

Let's also hope that this little business performs and doesn't just sit there and start taking a dump on us. We don't have enough diapers to take care of the mess at this point.

You've got to be kidding

I just spent 20 minutes dumping all my thoughts out into a blog...only to get an error when I tried to publish it. It was deep. I think I even solved the whole meaning of life deal. Too bad...I won't be able to repeat what I put down the first time. It was one of those unique situations where in a trance-like state I let my fingers dance across the keyboard. What ensued was truly a once-in-a-lifetime event.

It's gone...

That's all I have to say about that!
