An alternative to auction sites.

More and more people are buying and selling online. So, what is it that they want from the sites that they do all of that buying and selling? First and foremost, they want value. So why would we want to create a site that is considered an alternative to the auction sites, or even an alternative to ebay if you will? The answer is simple; to give people a choice. Sure, there are many other sites out there that will allow you to buy or sell things online, but we've created a format that is simple to use and whose sole purpose is to connect buyers with sellers. The flat rate cost of using the site makes it appealing to sellers, since they pay for a grouping of spaces for a set number of days rather than paying to list each individual item. There are no final value fees on gorage.com either, so whatever you sell your items for is what you get for having sold that item. What you pay to gorage.com is based on the number of spaces you select for your gorage and the number of days (minimum of 30) you select as well. There is not a bidding system either. Sellers can list their items at the price they choose and set their price as firm or negotiable. Interested buyers can make offers on items for sale without feeling they need to compete with others interested in the same product. We have all heard that the best way to get someone to buy a product is to put them in competition with others, so they just have to buy the item. We don't necessarily feel that is how we need our site to work. We want buyers to be able to purchase items at a reasonable price, while keeping the cost of listing those items for sale very low for the sellers as well.

So why this format? We feel that gorage.com can be used as an online garage sale, classified or storefront all in one. Your gorage can be used to sell items that you no longer have a use for or for new items that you are able to sell. In addition, gorage.com creates a way for people to start their own small home-based business by offering a format that allows them to resell items online for a profit. What does it cost to use the site? Buyers are not required to pay anything to use the site and do not need to register to search, browse or buy. Sellers pay for the number of spaces in their gorage and for the number of days (30 day increments) that they want to have their gorage open. The pricing matrix looks like this:

01 - 10 spaces = $5.00 per 30 days
11 - 25 spaces = $10.00 per 30 days
26 - 50 spaces = $25.00 per 30 days
51 - 100 spaces = $50.00 per 30 days

Business Accounts (100+ spaces qualifies as business account)
101 - 500 spaces = $100.00 per 30 days
501 - 1000 spaces = $200.00 per 30 days
1001 - 1500 spaces = $300.00 per 30 days
1501 - 2000 spaces = $400.00 per 30 days
2001 and above = $600.00 per 30 days

How does a seller pay to use gorage.com? Currently, we are taking our payments through PayPal. PayPal is the most cost effective way for gorage.com to receive payments. This allows us to keep the cost of using gorage.com down as well. We are not in any way affiliated with PayPal, we just realize that they have a very expansive user base and many people use it as a form of sending and receiving payments.

What makes gorage.com different from other online buying / selling websites? Our cost and easy to use processes are the key factors that separate us from other sites. The gorage.com site is designed to be easy to use in addition to being cost effective for sellers. Offering space to sell items for 30 day increments means that our sellers are able to sell more items at less cost. For example, a seller that purchases a 10 space gorage for 30 days has the option to fill any empty space in their gorage after an item sells as long as they have days remaining on that gorage. There is no additional charge to fill that empty space with another item. Sellers will only be charged to renew their gorage or to upgrade their gorage to more spaces.

The goal is to build a site that both buyers and sellers see value in and are willing to tell others about. To us, site users telling others about our site and the value it has is the biggest compliment that anyone can offer.
